Cleaning With Common Household Items

There are really easy ways to keep your household clean without the risk of harmful chemicals. Common household items can be used to clean. Items such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice can get the job done really well.

Here’s a simple starter list of what you need to make your own natural cleaning supplies:
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Liquid castile soap
- Organic essential oils (optional)
- Mixing bowls
- Spray bottles
- Micro fiber cloths

• Put baking soda in a glass grated cheese container that has holes on the top. Sprinkle the baking soda on surfaces to clean them.

Baking soda cleans silver. Pour baking soda in a stainless steel bowl or pot. Put a piece of foil in the pot with hot water. Place silver in pot or bowl. Allow it to sit. Take silver out when it is clean.

Baking soda and apple cider vinegar are a great drain cleaner. Pour baking soda in drain. Add apple cider vinegar. Allow to sit for 15 minutes; then flush with hot water.

Baking soda and apple cider vinegar also make a great spa-like bubble bath. It cleans and detoxifies your body. It also cleans your drain and your tub.

To clean your oven, sprinkle a cup or more of baking soda over the bottom of the oven; then cover the baking soda with enough water to make a thick paste. Let the mixture set overnight. The grease will be easy to wipe away the next day. After cleaning up the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven.

Deodorize dry carpets by sprinkling liberally with baking soda. Wait at least 15 minutes; then vacuum.

To rid your garbage disposal of foul smells, add vinegar to water for ice cubes.  When the cubes are frozen, add a few of them to the garbage disposal to get chopped.

Use white vinegar to clean any surface in your home. Put it in a spray bottle and use a micro fiber cloth to clean with.

Vinegar and peroxide work great together as a disinfectant and sanitizer.

Liquid Castile soap can be purchased in the health food store and can be used to clean anything in your home; and it is non-toxic.

Use essential oils in any of these products to add a nice fragrance. You can add essential oils to a spray bottle with water, and it will make a nice air freshener.

Hydrogen peroxide is a whitener for the laundry and is safer than chlorine bleach. It is a disinfectant and can be used all over your home.

20 Mule Team Borax is also a whitener and can be used to clean mold.

-Never use hand sanitizers on children because their bodies cannot process the alcohol in the sanitizers.

Add a quarter cup of white vinegar to a quart of water to clean mirrors and windows. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap to the mixture if windows or glass are really dirty.
