Do It Yourself Beauty Treatments
Freshen Up: Freshen your complexion with grape juice or red wine. Dot it on with a cotton ball. Let it sit a minute, then rinse.
Do it yourself dandruff treatment: Boil 4 heaping tablespoons of dried thyme in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Strain and allow to cool. Pour mixture over freshly washed damp hair. Massage into scalp. Do not rinse.
Make your own lip-gloss: You will need: 1 tablespoon of almond oil; 8 fresh cranberries; ½ teaspoon of honey. Mix all ingredients together. Microwave until the mixture begins to boil. Remove and gently mash. Let sit for 5 minutes and strain through a sieve. When cool, spoon into a clean container. Apply to lips. Refrigerate leftover gloss.
Tweez-etic? Before tweezing your eyebrows, dab on a topical toothache anesthetic, like Anbesol.
Homemade Skin Treatment: Yogurt is a natural exfoliant. It removes surface debris without taking away natural oils. Add a half-teaspoon of lemon to a quarter cup of yogurt. Gently rub into the skin. Rinse and pat dry.
Homemade Bath Sachet: You’ll need one knee high nylon or the foot from a panty hose. Fill it with oatmeal, loose chamomile tea, or orange/lemon peel. Close the top with a ribbon, rubber band, or by knotting it. Tie it to the faucet under warm running water.
Mix It Up! To make different lipstick shades: Dip a brush into a lipstick tube. Mix colors on wax paper until you get the color you want.
Homemade Drawer Sachets: You can use two pieces of fabric about 5x5 inches. Sew three sides together. Stuff with lavender beads, rose petals, or pine needles. Sew up the fourth side.
Make a toner: • For normal to dry skin: Mix a teaspoon of lemon juice with a half-teaspoon of tepid water. The lemon will shrink the pores. • For oily skin is hydrogen peroxide mixed with a little water.
Beauty Sleep: Getting proper rest is the best beauty treatment you can give yourself.
