Cookies
Place crushed tissue paper on the bottom of your cookie jar.
When mailing cookies: Pack in popcorn to help keep them from crumbling.
Candles
Candles burn more slowly and evenly with minimum wax drippings if you place them in the freezer for several hours before using.
Measuring Sticky Liquids
Before measuring honey or other syrup, oil the cup with cooking oil and rinse in hot water.
Frozen Bread Loaves and Rolls
Place in brown paper bag and put in 325-degree oven for 5 minutes to thaw completely.
Cream That Will Not Whip
Chill cream, bowl, and beater well.
Set a bowl of cream into a bowl of ice while you’re whipping.
Add the white of an egg. Chill and then whip.
If the cream still does not stiffen, gradually whip in 3 or 4 drops of lemon juice.
Brown Sugar “Hard as a Rock”
If you need it in a hurry, simply grate the amount called for with a hand grater.
Soften by placing a slice of soft bread in the package and closing tightly. In a couple of hours the brown sugar will be soft again.
Put brown sugar in a cup of water (do not add to the sugar, set it alongside of it) in a covered pan. Place in the oven (low heat) for a while.
