I desire for us to be an example to the world. I want them to look at us and ask, “How do you do it?”  Then we can give an answer and share the gospel with them. We are different. We have peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. When we are weak, in Christ we are strong.

Natural and spiritual ways will be given to enable you to be the woman God intended you to be. In spite of the fact that the Bible is an ancient book, it is very relevant and shows us how to make it in all areas of life. It is a very practical book.

Titus chapter 2 is an example. It exhorts the older women to instruct the younger women.

But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Titus 2:1-5 (NKJV)

Let’s also look at verses 3-5 from the New Living Translation:

Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. They must not go around speaking evil of others and must not be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.  These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.
Titus 2:3-5 (NLT)

As you can see, this passage deals with the issues of life. Obviously, in the ancient world women were being drawn away from being homemakers or else the apostle Paul may not have addressed it. Many concerns we have today appear to be matters they had to face in the ancient world.

I find it interesting that not being a good homemaker is something that would bring shame to the Word of God. When we think of bringing shame to God, being a keeper of the home is probably not a thought we had concerning the subject. Any idea I have ever had concerning bringing shame to God had to do with not doing the Word, but I never thought of not taking care of my home as not doing the Word. I have always thought of it as being a natural responsibility of mine.

We tend to get so spiritual we neglect the natural. God is concerned about the whole man. He even cares about how we keep our home. God is interested in order. He has a divine order for everything in the universe. When there is no order, it creates confusion and a lack of peace. Order assuredly carries peace with it.

Think about it…When something is a mess, it makes it more difficult to think and to function. This includes how we look. If I am unkempt and do not take care of myself, I do not like myself. I get a bad attitude. I am not pleasant to be around. How we care for the things around us is a reflection of how we feel about ourselves.

The verse instructs the older women to train the younger women “to love their husband and children.” When we are not being very loving, what is the real reason behind it? Could it be that we are in disarray which causes us for some reason to not like ourselves at the moment? What is the reason we do not like ourselves? Of course, the main reason is because we do not believe God’s Word concerning ourselves.
