MONEY SAVING TIPS FOR GROCERY SHOPPING

Stockpile household cleaning  and personal hygiene items because they do not have an expiration date.

Shop on non-peak days. Oftentimes there are deals to attract people into the store.

Stock up on deals, especially if it doesn’t have an expiration date.

Know Your Prices, especially with items you purchase on a regular basis. You might want to keep track with a notebook you write down the prices in.

Take advantage of coupons and keep them organized.

Keep your pantry, fridge & cupboards organized.

Buy in bulk sizes when possible. The prices are usually less, but check first because this is not always the case.

Look for cheap meat cuts. These can be used for soups, homemade broths, hearty stews and slow-cooker recipes.

Make less shopping trips. Shop bi-monthly or monthly. For your produce needs, go into the store only to the produce department with a hand held basket. Get the items you need, pay and leave.

Have at least one cheap meal a week.

Make some big batches of food and freeze them.
Cook them with food you purchased on sale.

Eat before you go shopping. Never shop when you are hungry.

Take time when you shop. Try not to shop when you are in a hurry and if possible, go without the children.

Build your shopping list. I keep a pad in my kitchen to write down items I am running low on or have run out of. I bring it to the store with me.

Shop at more than one store. If the price difference is significant, it is worth going to another store.
