Videographer

Videography is a funny thing…either it’s a ‘must have’ for you or it doesn’t matter.  The thing with videography…if you don’t …you will wish you would have!

The exciting thing about watching your DVD is you will be able to see your ceremony and key parts of your wedding through the eyes of a guest.

Your day will go by so fast and you miss so many of the details.  The videogarpher will catch the action and the things you probably missed.  You will once again be able to hear that special reading, the soloist, your vows one to another and the actual, “I do.”  You will be able to watch and hear those special toasts as well as see your first dance together as husband and wife.

As with all services and products, you will get what you pay for.  The trend today is a more cinematography style also known as documentary style…it’s like comparing the traditional photography to a photojournalistic style.  The hours of boring drawn out footage are gone…the cinematography style focuses on the highlights of your wedding day in interesting formats with a more artistic touch.

In this field as with the others, professionals set their own rates and fees.
Be sure to view the work of the person you are hiring.  If you’re not impressed, you may want to meet with others.

Styles in order of pricing:

•
Raw Footage – this is filming the day as it happens.  You will be getting uncut and unedited footage.  Nothing fancy but you do have an action memory of the day.

•  Memory Montage – usually includes still photos from baby on up to current and brings you up to the big wedding event.  The price goes up because of the time it takes to incorporate the photos, perhaps some interviews and also puts in music and sound bites.

•  Cinematography / Documentary – the action sister to photojournalism and done with more than one camera.  Not only does it tell a story like the memory montage, it is much more creative and elaborate with special effects and sound bites.  The person you hire will be with you the entire wedding day.  After the wedding is over, there is approximately 40 to 50 hours of studio work to produce a great piece.

Don’t be surprised if it takes weeks if not months to get your finished product for the cinematography / documentary style format.  A quality product is worth the wait!
